SFSC: CPCCA Releases Report more than one year late

The Canadian Parliamentary Coalition to Combat Antisemitism (CPCCA) released its final report yesterday, more than a year after it was first promised to appear. For the last two years, the Seriously Free Speech Committee has been involved in national campaign to expose the CPCCA and its agenda to demonise and silence critics of the state of Israel.

The CPCCA press release announces the report’s pre-ordained conclusion that “antisemitism is a growing threat in Canada, especially on the campuses of our universities” and calls on the Canadian government to “combat the wave of antisemitism” and “counter antisemitic events, such as ‘Israeli Apartheid Week'”.

The CPCCA report’s  primary (and very first) recommendation is that the highly flawed and extremely politicised ‘EUMC Working Definition of Antisemitism’ “be adopted and promoted by the Government of Canada and law enforcement agencies” (emphasis in original) and also by “Canadian universities” (in a later recommendation). That “Working Definition” delineates how “antisemitism manifests itself with regard to the state of Israel” and, according to the CPCCA, deems antisemitic the use of terms like “apartheid” or calling for a boycott. Despite its official sounding name, the “EUMC Working Definition” has no legal standing or current function with the European Union.
